'StARR Romania Relief' is a charity formed in 1995, by 18 men from City Church, St Albans, to undertake a building project at an orphanage in Botosani, in North-Eastern Romania. Since then, StARR has expanded, and around 80 men and women (from all across the UK, plus some overseas people) have been involved with one, or more, of the Mercy Mission trips that are made to Botosani each year. The country of Romania is still suffering from a lack of investment, high unemployment, and massive inflation. What Do We Do?
StARR has chosen to concentrate on the town of Botosani, as we believe we can provide more effective aid in a single location, rather than trying to spread our efforts too thinly, across many places. Botosani is loacted in one of the poorest areas of Romania. The aid that StARR provides includes childcare, building work, medical supplies and financial assistance. As a group of volunteers, we are restricted on how much we can do - we are very grateful for the donations that have been provided, both financial and material. If you are interested in helping StARR with this vital charitable work, please contact us.
